NoVo Foundation Announces New Director of Communications

30 January 2015

30 January 2015—The NoVo Foundation announced today that Joe Voeller, an experienced leader in social change communications and philanthropy, has joined the foundation as Director of Communications.

In this newly created role, Joe will build the foundation’s first-ever communications function, establishing a vision and strategy to guide all aspects of NoVo’s institutional communications, public engagement, visual identity and media relations. Joe will also partner with the foundation’s program staff to develop and implement communications strategies that advance work across its initiatives.

“We are thrilled to welcome Joe to the NoVo Foundation,” said Pamela Shifman, executive director of the NoVo Foundation.  “He is a passionate advocate for social justice, a firm believer in the values that guide our mission, and an expert in the power of communications to improve lives and create lasting change. He is a powerful addition to our growing team.”

Before joining the NoVo Foundation, Joe spent more than ten years at the Ford Foundation, where he led communications efforts in such areas as economic justice, the rights of Indigenous Peoples, climate change and HIV/AIDS. He began his career in the White House, working as a special assistant for the White House Millennium Council.

“It is an incredible honor to join the NoVo Foundation,” said Voeller. “NoVo’s investment in the untapped potential of girls, women and other marginalized communities will make the world a better place for everyone, and I am deeply grateful for the chance to contribute to its timely and transformational work.”
