On Friday, November 11, the NoVo Foundation shared the following note with our grantee partners.
“Long as the hummingbird had not abandoned the land, somewhere there were still flowers, and they could all go on.”
-Leslie Marmon Silko
To our partners:
In a moment of intense grief, anger and fear, we are writing to express our deepest solidarity and support for all that you are and all that you do.
Today and every day, we join you — and social justice advocates around the globe — in rejecting the forces of division and hate. We reaffirm our shared commitment to a world that is rooted in compassion, justice and love — a world in which every child is safe, seen and celebrated. And we are more determined than ever to ensure that every girl and every woman can live free from violence, discrimination and fear.
As has been so painfully clear, our shared work to end racism, misogyny, xenophobia and other forms of hate could not be more necessary or more urgent. And while it will not be easy, we find hope and determination in the fact that the leadership of women, especially women of color, including Indigenous women and immigrant women, will once again guide our way.
As our shared efforts face new challenges in the days ahead, we want you to you know: We are with you. We support you. And we stand with you in the struggle for equality, liberation and justice for every person.
By standing together in our shared power, we can and will offer a vision for a way forward, toward a world based in partnership and love.
With deepest gratitude,
The NoVo Foundation team
